April 28 "Fast and Furious"--not the movie

What if you were ordered by the Canadian government to do something illegal and dangerous. You knew that Canadians and others would be murdered if you obeyed orders? Would you blow the whistle? Talk to the press? Talk to members of parliament to expose what you had been ordered to do?

Chapter 11 Response

Let's chat with Dennis Prager. Today and maybe tomorrow, we'll listen, pause, talk and listen some more.  It relates directly to chapter 11. I think you'll like this, especially because there is no homework!

By the way, I'm thinking you might like to create a presentation, maybe a blog, not just a powerpoint and share your topic via Zoom with us for 15 or 20 minutes instead of doing an essay. Let me know what you think.

April 16: Chips, no salsa

In recent weeks, we have seen mayors ban gun sales, in blatant defiance of the Second Amendment. We have seen governors ban church services, in blatant defiance of the First Amendment. We have seen manufacturing brought a standstill in state after state. We have seen police ticketing married couples just for walking together on the sidewalk, and taking down license plates of cars parked at a drive-through church service.

April 15 Sources for your essays

I'll add more sources as we go.

I highly recommend searching American Thinker and The New American Magazine (Christian). Check out the author archives in American Thinker for Colin Flaherty on the racism topic and New American for Alex Newman.

Newman and Flaherty also have their own excellent blogs. Newman is a brilliant Christian journalist.

April 14 Targeting males, fathers, and families: tragic coincidence or despicable agenda?

The Father of Communism, Karl Marx , said he had three goals:

1.To dethrone God
2.To eliminate private property
3.To destroy the family

1.Targeting the family unit: Blonde in the Belly of the Beast   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpKE6I840FM

2.Siege: Cultural Marxists are targeting the American Male
33:56  Brannon Howse, a Christian conservative, claims:

“If you destroy the father as protector and provider of the family, the government steps in and becomes the ‘daddy’.”

3.The following information focuses on the loss of the father in black American families since the 1960’s.

In the 1950’s, 80 percent of black children were raised in 2 parent families

In the 1960’s, a liberal President Johnson massively expanded welfare payments to single moms. Having several children from different fathers generated a good income. In 2015 it was estimated that a welfare mom received the equivalent of 65 thousand US dollars per year from the government. At that time, the median income in the USA in 2016 was $57,617 .

The National Center for Health Statistics said that in 2015, 77.3 percent of non-immigrant black births were illegitimate. [Today, the single parent family is reality for almost 80% of black children: exactly opposite the 1950’s before the government became ‘daddy’.] https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/77-black-births-to-single-moms-49-for-hispanic-immigrants

Homicide-victimization rates for black men were 3.9 times the national average and 52 percent of all known homicide victims were black (2017 data). He might have added that the perpetrators of these crimes were overwhelmingly African Americans. In 2018, where the homicide victim was black, the suspected killer also was 88 percent of the time. And this is not an exceptional situation. From 1976 to 2005, 94 percent of black victims were killed by other African Americans. https://www.nationalreview.com/magazine/2019/12/22/the-need-to-discuss-black-on-black-crime/

To drill down even further, in 2017, black males accounted for 45 percent of homicides, even though they make up just seven percent of the population. That means they commit murders at a rate eight times higher than whites. https://www.conservativereview.com/news/can-incarceration-rates-racist-reflect-actual-crime-rates/

April 13 Punish them!

April 13 Anesthesiologist censored for politically incorrect opinion about CCP Virus

We live in a world of liberal intolerance, of which I would never before have believed. Deplatforming, as this is called, is really a modern form of book burning. We must burn books that go against the dogma. I have good credentials and am a physician. My co-authors — four other physicians and a nurse practitioner — also had good credential, and we advocated well-reasoned and duly sourced positions. Unfortunately, we hold the wrong opinion, and a “dangerous” one at that.

April 9 Fair?

Police in Greenville, Mississippi raided the parking lot of Temple Baptist Church during a drive-in prayer service and issued $500 fines to everyone in attendance – including many elderly congregants.

Stephen Crowder has a podcast “Louder with Crowder”. One of his features is “Change my mind”. He goes to university campuses, makes a simple controversial statement, and invites anyone to sit down and discuss the issue, with the purpose of changing his mind.

Applying the social distancing stigma

California sheriff warns he will punish people who don't wear masks

April 8 In our brave new world, you may be guilty of campus and covid violations even if you are proven innocent

We've seen examples of how the anti-male stigma begins in universities, with lies about the gender pay gap and the campus 'rape crisis'. Young men are ruined by sexual assault claims based on the 20% assault myth that continues to be

  • pushed by professors,
  • amplified by the media, and
  • enforced by campus thought police.

Now, people are being stigmatized who deviate or are claimed to deviate from the COVID 19 'laws'. If you're believed by authorities to not be practicing proper social distancing, you are in deep trouble

Too many of us are too quick to give up our human rights in my view. Where is the concern for due process?  It is looking to me that, both on campus and in the Covid world, there is little concern for basic constitutional rights. How is our society different from totalitarian China?

Today's "Men are bad" video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LlFAd4YdQks&t=1s

Interview with Emily Yoffe:

Q.The simple narrative is, "Trump doesn't think consent is important, so he's changing these guidelines to help people like him get off the hook for sexual assault." What's missing from that story?
A.The problem [with rape adjudications on college campuses] hasn't penetrated the public consciousness. This three-part series of mine just ran in The Atlantic, and as we were working on the first part, which was mostly about due process—how we got here and how things have gone off the rails—I said to my editor, "Isn't this kind of old? Don't people already know this?" But he was right. People don't know that a young man can be expelled from college without ever having received specific written notice of what he's alleged to have done wrong. They don't know that virtually any encounter with a sexual element, including a joke, can get someone in deep trouble.
The next quote is from an article that attacks President Trump for changing the rules to allow 'due process' legal protection for males accused of sexual assault and rape on campus:

By Michael Dolce, lawyer representing victims of sexual abuse, sex trafficking and domestic violence

Members of Congress can't let Education Secretary Betsy DeVos off easy when she testifies Thursday about her department's new budget request. They must use this opportunity to interrogate her about her planned changes to sexual harassment rules on college campuses.
The Southern Poverty Law Center is famous for branding conservative and Christian groups as 'hateful'. Their branding is used by the mainstream media to attack these individuals and groups. Following is a cute video that pretends to teach young people about dealing with hate speech i.e. speech that people like the SPLC disagree with:
Southern Poverty Law Center: Eliminating offensive online speech
This next video identifies the "speech code virus" that has infected the education system and is particularly enforced in colleges and universities. You will see examples of this from my own Seneca College.
Speech Codes attack free speech on campuses 2.44 from "Indoctrinate U" documentary on our blog:
Evan Maloney, in the above interview, says that when speech codes are found unconstitutional in court, they are repackaged by colleges and show up in places like "Sexual Harassment Policies" Example from my former college:

Seneca College's Sexual Harassment Policy:

Definition of sexual harassment:

Engaging in a course of conduct of a gender-related or sexual nature that is known, or might reasonably be known, to be unwelcome/unwanted, offensive, intimidating, hostile or inappropriate. Depending on its severity, one action may constitute sexual harassment.
This may include, but is not limited to; demeaning gestures, remarks and jokes; slurs; taunting; innuendo based on gender or sexual orientation; unwanted physical contact; leering; inappropriate comments about clothing, physical characteristics or activities; unwanted questions or comments about one's private life, sexual orientation, marital or family status; the display of sexually offensive material; solicitation; unwanted attention; implied or expressed promise of reward or benefit in return for sexual favours; implied or expressed threat or act of reprisal if sexual favours are not given or sexual assault (Criminal Code of Canada offence).

  • Abusive communication

Any unwelcome words or images received or distributed in person or by telephone, letter, electronic mail or any communication medium, including social media, that intimidate, disparage or cause humiliation, offence or embarrassment to a person.
Highlights
  • Anyone can make a complaint up to one year after the alleged incident
  • The college can immediately suspend the alleged offender
  • It will take a minimum of two weeks to begin hearing the complaint
  • There are no provisions for the "offender" to have legal representation
  • There are no consequences to a person found to be making a 'vexatious' complaint
  • The college still may proceed with a trial even if the complaint is vexatious
  • The penalties are severe

April 7 Massive confusion in male/female relations: homework due Wednesday

Ours is a terrible era of mixed messages for young non-Christian men and women.

On the one hand, popular culture is infected with sexual messages. Example: J-Lo and Shakira's Superbowl half-time show. Message: it's so cool to be hot. Example from 'real life': college kids on spring break.

The pop culture message is basically, more sex with more people = more fun!

But the campus message college kids will 'learn' in school is not so free and easy. Message: sex is ok if you follow this basic rule: You need consent. Consent is in possession of females

  • Is inviting someone to your bedroom, consent? No
  • Is asking a female if she would accept a kiss and being told "Yes", consent? Maybe. But if that person has had a drink, it might not actually be consent.

And the q and a must go on.

The next day if, for whatever reason, the female decides she is unhappy, she may present a 'no consent' complaint to the campus 'rape crisis' center. And that will be pretty much game over for the male.

April 7 What in the world is going on in our schools?

  • At the Edina School District in Edina, Minnesota, all employees, even bus drivers, must take "Equity and Racial Justice Training" instructing them that "dismantling white privilege" is at the core of the district's mission. They must acknowledge their racial guilt, and embrace the district's "equity" ideology.

  • To enhance "cultural diversity," students at Maryland's La Plata High School were ordered to copy the Islamic creed "Shahada" which states in part, "There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah." One worksheet distributed by the school states, "Most Muslims' faith is stronger than the average Christian."

  • As part of transgender instruction in Rocklin Academy in Rocklin, California, a male kindergartener was reintroduced to classmates as a girl. A first grader at the school was sent to the principal's office after she called the student by his given name on the playground – apparently unaware that the five year old had changed gender.
These horror stories are not exceptions to the rule. As our important new pamphlet (co-authored by Sara Dogan and Peter Collier), Leftist Indoctrination In Our K-12 Public Schools, shows, they are happening every day in schools all across our country. You can access this work which provides crucial documentation of the indoctrination crisis in our schools here or read the full text below.

April 2 Hot off the press...

HOLLYWOOD IGNORAMUSES STRIKE AGAIN

Save up for this! The Hulu streaming channel is debuting a nine-part series called “Mrs. America” on the 1970s-era clash between Gloria Steinem and Phyllis Schlafly chiefly over the Equal Rights Amendment, and given that it’s Hollywood’s take you can be sure it is fully “nuanced.”
You know you are in trouble when the very first sentence of the review of the show in the Hollywood Reporter today begins as follows:
A century after female suffrage became the law of the land, there is still no federal ban on legalized discrimination against women.
So, I’m guessing the writer of this review has never heard of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (it was kindof a big deal at the time), which includes:
It shall be an unlawful employment practice for an employer to fail or refuse to hire or to discharge any individual, or otherwise to discriminate against any individual with respect to his compensation, terms, conditions, or privileges of employment, because of such individual’s race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.
The rest of the article doesn’t get any better, but if you’re a glutton, you can click at the link  above and be alternately amused and infuriated.
And I’ll predict that the number of Power Line readers who decide to stream this pathetic excuse for a dual biopic will asymptotically approach zero.

April 2 A note about notes

Please keep an old fashioned paper notebook handy. Put the date at the top of each class notes page. Often, when I show a short video, I'll give you a few minutes to record some thoughts on paper. Sometimes, I'll have specific questions; sometimes, I'll ask you what caught your attention and why.

April 2 Essay topics: Media Bias

Bias by omission. What the mainstream news media does not tell the public is, in many cases, much more harmful than the often slanted 'fake news' like the AIDS epidemic that they do present.

In the essay topics document, I give you six different issues that most of the public has never heard of. Do some googling in the next few days and see which one looks most interesting.

If you have any questions, ask them in the Teams Journalism chat...@MrTopalian.

By this time next week, choose one.

April 2 Males and females: false claims, double standards

How are women doing relative to men?

Professor Sommers explains that, “…I routinely encounter students who have fully accepted the feminist propaganda. American college women are arguably the most fortunate, liberated beings on the planet -- yet in their feminist theory classes they are likely to learn that they are put upon and tyrannized by men.” Why do you think this is the case? Why do some people believe the propaganda, when the evidence doesn’t support it? What fundamental conditions precipitate young people being ‘duped’ into embracing the victim mentality, even people who have not experienced such victimization first hand?
